The IAEC received a grant from the Energy Communities Alliance to produce educational materials on environmental restoration.

The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Site was established in 1949 as the National Reactor Testing Station. Its original mission was to develop and test civilian and defense nuclear reactor technologies and manage Spent Nuclear Fuel. Some areas of the Site have been contaminated with legacy wastes generated from World War II and Cold War-era conventional weapons testing, government-owned research and power-reactor development and testing, spent nuclear fuel processing, laboratory research, and defense missions at the INL Site and other government sites.

The Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) is accelerating environmental cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Idaho National Laboratory (INL). Site workers treat, store, disposition and manage a variety of radioactive and hazardous wastes as they work to protect the Snake River Plain Aquifer, a sole source aquifer that sustains Idaho's agricultural industry. ICP is paving the way for INL to fulfill future missions at the Site.
